Project menu options

The options available from the Project option on the Studio main menu let you add items to projects, unload and load projects, and work with project references.

Option

Description

Add New Item

Launches the Add New Item window. This option is available when you highlight a solution, project, or folder in Solution Explorer. Selecting Add New Item with a solution highlighted in Solution Explorer displays the Add New Items - Solution Items window.

Selecting Add New Item with the project or a project folder highlighted in Solution Explorer displays these items in the Add New Items - Project Items dialog:

Add Existing Item

Opens the Add Existing Item window. This option is available when you highlight a solution, project, or folder in Solution Explorer. Select the Studio file (.os)  to add to the solution such as an automation or adapter file from another solution.

Add New Folder

Adds a folder under the project in Solution Explorer. This option is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. You can add project items and additional subfolders under a project folder. For more information, see Project Folder.

Add Existing Folder

Opens the Browse for Folder window. This option is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. Use this window to add a project folder containing existing system files under the selected project in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Project Folder.

Add New Windows Form

Opens the Add New Item window is displayed with a Windows form selected. This option is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. You can rename the form at this point (leaving the .os extension intact). Click Add to add the form and close the window. The Windows form is added under the highlighted project or folder in Solution Explorer and opens in the Designer.

Add New Automation

Opens the Add New Item dialog with an Automation selected. This option is available when project or folder highlighted in Solution Explorer. You can rename the automation at this point (leaving the .os extension intact). Click Add to add the automation and close the window. The automation is added under the highlighted project or folder in Solution Explorer and opens in the Designer.

Add New Windows Application

Opens the Add New Item dialog with the Windows Application adapter selected. This option is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. You can rename the adapter at this point (leaving the .os extension intact). Click Add to add the automation and close the window. The Windows application adapter is added under the highlighted project or folder in Solution Explorer and opens in the Designer.

Add New Web Application...

Opens the Add New Item dialog with the Web Application adapter selected. This option is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. You can rename the adapter at this point (leaving the .os extension intact). Click Add to add the automation and dismiss the window. The Web Application adapter is added under the highlighted project or folder in the Solution Explorer and opens in the Designer.

Add New Context

Contains three submenu items: Local, Process, and Citrix and is is available when you highlight a project or folder in Solution Explorer. After you select the context type you want to add, it is displayed under the project (of folder) in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Citrix Overview.

Unload Project

Lets you edit the XML file that corresponds to the project. This option is available when you highlight a project in Solution Explorer. See the MSDN How To: Edit Project Files topic for more information.

Add Reference

Adds a reference to a .NET component or existing Studio project. This option is available when you highlight a project in Solution Explorer. When you select this option, the Add Reference window is displayed. For more information, see Add Reference Dialog and Project References.

Set as StartUp Project

Lets you select the highlighted project as the project built, debugged, and deployed. This option is available when project highlighted in Solution Explorer. The Startup Project is displayed in bold in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Working with Multiple Projects.

Refresh Project Toolbox Items

Refreshes the components listed in the toolbox. Use this option when the AutoToolboxPopulate setting (Tools >  Options >  Windows Forms Designer >  General) has been set to False. In this case, any components built by the project are not automatically added to the toolbox. To add the components to the toolbox, select this option.

Manage Imported Types

Opens the Import Types window. This option is available when you highlight the solution or a project in Solution Explorer and applies when project references have been added.

Manage Imported Projects

Adds the entire contents of a referenced project to the project you highlighted. This option is available when you highlight a solution or project in Solution Explorer and applies when project references have been added.

Deploy with Current Configuration

This option is available when solution or project highlighted in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Deploying a Project.

Deploy with All Configurations

This option is available when solution or project highlighted in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Deploying a Project.

Project Properties

Opens the Application, Build, and Deployment properties in the Designer. This option is available when you highlight a solution or project in Solution Explorer. For more information, see Project Properties.
