Numeric expressions

The numeric expression lets you perform standard mathematical functions in a solution such as multiplication, addition, and so on. When you place the numeric expression component on an automation a design block containing input for the initiating event and output result are contained within the block, along with an entry field for you to specify the expression. Expressions of undefined and defined Numeric Expression blocks are shown here:

Properties

Property

Description

Decimals

The number of significant digits (precision) for the results of the expression.

Errors

For invalid expressions, messages regarding the invalid context display in this property.

Expression

The numeric expression to perform. This component supports simple mathematical functions such as:

  • Addition (+)

  • Subtraction (-)

  • Multiplication (*)

  • Division (/)

Valid

Displays a value of True or False indicating whether the syntax of the expression is accepted by Studio.
