Applying Configurations

After creating one or more configuration profiles, you can use the profiles when running the project in Studio and when creating deployment packages of the project for use with Runtime.

This topic covers the following:

Setting the Default Project Configuration

You set the default Configuration profile for the project in the Configuration property on the Project Property - Application page (an example is shown below). Note that the default project configuration is None. Therefore, if you run the project in Studio without setting the Configuration property, none of the configuration profiles are applied.

Debugging and Running a Project with a Specific Configuration

To run a project with a specific Configuration Profile, set the Configuration property on the Project Property - Application page. Once you set the Configuration property, the value becomes the default configuration profile used any time you run the project. (Application page properties do not differ between the solution configurations (Debug, Release, and so on).

Deploying a Project with a Specific Configuration

To create a deployment package for a project using a specific configuration, perform the following steps.

  1. Set the Configuration property on the Project Property - Application page.

  2. Click the Deploy Project with Current Configuration button on the toolbar. The Project Deployment dialog is displayed that shows the configuration you selected.

  3. The Configuration box on the Project Deployment dialog shows the name of the configuration you set on the Project Property - Application page. The Configuration is read-only. To change the configuration, cancel the project deployment and change the Configuration property for the project.

Once you complete the Project Deployment dialog, a deployment package for the selected configuration will be created. For more information, see Project Deployment Dialog Fields.

The name of the deployment package files will be the Project name-ConfigName.OpenSpan and Project name-ConfigName.Manifest.

Deploying a Project with all Configurations

To create a deployment packages for a project using a all Configuration profiles:

  1. Click the Deploy Project with All Configurations button on the toolbar. The Project Deployment window is displayed with the configuration set to All.

  2. To change the Configuration used for the deployment, click the arrow and select the Configuration profile name. To create deployment packages for all of the Configuration profiles, accept the default (All).

Once you complete the Project Deployment dialog, deployment packages are created for all configuration profiles or just for the profile you selected. For more information, see Project Deployment Dialog Fields.

The name of the deployment package files will be the Project name-ConfigName.OpenSpan and Project name-ConfigName.Manifest., along with deployment files for the project with no Configuration applied (Project name.OpenSpan and Project name.Manifest).
