Replace Control Interrogation Option

Use the Replace Control option in the Interrogation Form when you need to change the structure of the Object Explorer hierarchy due to changes in the interrogated application.

To use the Replace Control option, begin interrogating the application and go to the appropriate form or webpage. Because the structure is incorrect, the form or webpage will not match. Select the form or webpage within Object Explorer and select Replace Control from the Interrogation Form. Drag the interrogation icon over the appropriate target. When dropped, the control will be re-created and the parent controls will be created as required.

You should only use the Replace Control option on the topmost item that is not matching (either the form or the webpage). Also, in the case of frames, make sure the containing page is matching appropriately before you use the Replace Control option. Otherwise, the tree will be re-created incorrectly.
