Add Additional Match Rules to Identify the Target

In some cases you will need to add rules to uniquely match a target. This occurs when the default match rules match multiple targets.

When you need to add another match rule to help identify the target, make sure the target is highlighted and then scroll through the Match Rules list on the Match Rules pane. When the match rule you want to add is displayed, select it.

In the example below, a web input target has been interrogated and the Input Type match rule applied. However, multiple input targets on the page are matched by this rule. In this case, the Element Index Rule is added to help uniquely match the target. For more information, see Match Rule Definitions.

Click the New button next to the Match Rules list box and the system adds the match rule to the list on the Match Rules pane.

Click the Refresh Matching button in the Targets pane to see if adding the new rule helped to uniquely identify the target.
